Prime Minister inaugurates “Digital Drap System”
Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the “Digital Drap System” under the Ministry of National Health Services.
According to the details, the process of registration and licensing of medical devices has been digitalized. Now every citizen of Pakistan will be able to apply online for registration and licensing of medical devices. Everything that falls under the category of medical devices, now creators will not have to wait for years for its registration, from wheelchairs to MRI machines, registration and licensing of everything will be online. This process was done in the past years, now it will be completed in about 20 days, due to which the public will no longer have to face shortage of medical devices.
This system will also ensure public safety through tracking and alert for immediate action against defective or unregistered medical devices. This will enable applicants to track their applications online, in real time, and the registration and licensing process will be completed faster, marking a quiet revolution. For the first time, manufacturers and importers will be able to submit their applications, documents, and fees completely online, eliminating the need to visit the office.
The elimination of human intervention will also eliminate the possibility of corruption, which will increase transparency and accountability in the system. International standards will be ensured and the error rate in applications will be reduced with the help of digital verification and built-in checks. Quality and safety principles can be better enforced through integration with other government databases. This initiative will promote ease of doing business and increase investment in the medical devices sector. This will also increase the confidence of foreign investors in Pakistani medical devices. This initiative is an important milestone in the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s journey of digital governance and government system reforms. All stakeholders, including hospitals, importers, and manufacturers, will benefit from reduced administrative burden and faster access to the market.
Features like automatic renewal, SMS/email notifications, and audit trails will also be added to this system in the coming days to further improve regulatory controls. Another promise of ease, convenience, and transparency made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the nation has been fulfilled.
