Pakistan will launch 5G services in next year
In Karachi. Syed Amin-Ul-Haque, the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom, declared that 5G services would be available in Pakistan by July 2023.
At Career Feast 2022, an event held by the University of Karachi's Department of Computer Science on Thursday, the minister made the announcement.
The minister had previously stated that 5G technology would be introduced in Pakistan in December 2022, but this time he has provided a new launch date.
He emphasised the importance of forging strong ties between academic institutions and the IT sector because doing so will help the nation meet its future needs.
He declared, "We are working to ensure that everyone in every corner of the nation can access technology."
The minister emphasised that the IT ministry experienced the highest growth in exports, at 47.44%, compared to other ministries, which saw export growth of only 2-3%.
Haque claimed that while $373 million had been set aside for startups in 2020, the government wanted to increase that amount to $500 million.
When he took over, the IT exports were at $1.4 billion, but they are now up to $2.6 billion, he claimed.
