Imran Khan attack: CTD arrested another accused from Wazirabad

GUJRANWALA: On Monday, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police claimed to have detained a new suspect from Wazirabad in connection with a shooting incident involving PTI leader Imran Khan during the Azadi Long March.

The suspect, a Sodhra resident, was apprehended at Wazirabad Mobile Market, according to a CTD official.

The CTD has so far detained five people, including the primary suspect Naveed, and is conducting an investigation into the event involving the attempted assassination of former prime minister Imran Khan.

In a coordinated operation on Sunday, Wazirabad Police and other law enforcement agencies detained four members of a family who were involved in the attack on the PTI long march convoy in Wazirabad.

According to authorities, the gun used in the attempted murder of Imran Khan belonged to a person who lives in Chak 82-Junoobi.

During the party's long march, a gunman opened fire close to the PTI welcoming camp at Allahwala Chowk, injuring the PTI chief and other party leaders.

Imran Khan underwent surgery at the hospital to remove the bullets from his leg, and on Sunday evening, he was released.

In the incident in Wazirabad on Thursday, a party official was also slain.
