My only target was Imran Khan, the assailant claims in a video message
WAZIRABAD: The gunman who shot Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan during the party's long march has admitted to the crime and stated that the former prime minister was his only intended victim.
The attacker said that he had been plotting the assassination attempt ever since Imran departed Lahore in a video statement made available to ARY News. "I made every effort to murder him. I simply intended to assassinate Imran Khan; nobody else," he continued.
The assailant added that he rode his motorcycle alone to Wazirabad and that he tried to assassinate Imran because he was "misleading the people." According to the suspect's video statement, "I tried to kill him because I could not stomach witnessing it."
When asked if he had any helpers, he claimed that no one was following him and that he carried out the deed at his own initiative. The suspect said that he had left his bike at his maternal uncle's store.
It is important to note that during the party's long march, a gunman opened fire close to the PTI receiving camp at Allahwala Chowk, injuring Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders.
Six people were hurt and one person was killed when unknown assailants opened fire on PTI Chairman Imran Khan's container close to the Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad.
PTI Secretary General Asad Umar said that the PTI Chairman was hurt in a targeted attack during the long march while speaking exclusively to ARY News. According to sources cited by ARY News, the shooter has been taken into custody.
A party employee or official was killed in the incident, while several others were hurt, according to PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan, who was hurt in the assault. He urged everyone to pray for the wounded and for everyone's safety, especially party leader Imran Khan.
