Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court takes notice of murder of couple over arranged marriage
Additional Chief Secretary Home and the provincial IG Police were summoned in their personal capacity yesterday.
Chief Justice Balochistan High Court has taken notice of the murder of a couple in the province. According to the details, Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Rozi Khan Barich took notice of the murder of a couple who had a love marriage in the province. He has summoned the Additional Chief Secretary Home and IG Police Balochistan in person on Tuesday, July 22, seeking a report on the incident.
It is being told that after the video of the couple being killed in Degari, a suburb of Quetta, went viral, the police took action and arrested more than 20 people. Police sources say that the arrested accused include the main accused Bashir Ahmed and the head of the Satakzai tribe, Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, his 4 brothers and 2 bodyguards. The accused will be presented before the judicial magistrate, while the Quetta police handed over the case to the Serious Crimes Investigation Wing for further investigation.
It is learnt that the case of the incident was registered in the Hana Orak police station on the complaint of SHO Naveed Akhtar. The FIR text states that the video of the incident went viral on social media, which showed a woman and a man being shot and killed. A police team reached the scene of the incident in Degari area of Sanjeedi, where initial information revealed that the incident took place 3 days before Eid-ul-Adha.
The plaintiff says that Bano Bibi and Ehsanullah were killed on charges of corruption. Shah Wazir, Jalal, Tikri Munir, Bakhtiar, Malik Amir, Ajab Khan, Jan Muhammad, Bashir Ahmed and 15 other unknown persons were allegedly involved in the incident. These persons presented the woman and the man before Sardar Sher Baz Khan, where the Sardar pronounced the verdict of corruption and ordered the killing of both of them.
The FIR revealed that a woman and a man were taken in vehicles and shot dead in Degari, a suburb of Quetta. A video of the murder was made during the incident and uploaded on social media, causing widespread panic among the public. The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Pakistan Penal Code and other sections. Further investigations are underway.
