Islamabad: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary party has passed an amendment to extend the tenure of the chiefs of the armed forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the PML-N parliamentary party at the Parliament House.
According to the report, the meeting consulted on the political situation of the country, parliamentary affairs and legislation.
According to sources, the parliamentary party approved the draft of the bill to increase the number of judges of the Supreme Court from 17 to 34, while the proposal to amend the extension of the tenure of the army chiefs was also approved.
Sources claimed that the government is likely to seek approval for amendments to the Army Act and the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act from the National Assembly today itself.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the country is moving in the right direction, the economy is improving and investment is taking place.
He said that the Sbp has also reduced the interest rate by 250 points, it is welcome to reduce the interest rate from 17.5 percent to 15 percent by 250 points.
