THE LONG MARCH ITINERARY WAS MODIFIED A THIRD TIME

Imran Khan

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated on Monday that "the Pakistan Army is ours and going against it is not conceivable." He compared the soldiers manning the borders as guards to his sons while speaking to members of the media on Monday at his Zaman Park house in this city.

Since his removal in April, the PTI head had been critical of the army. On the other hand, he declared on Monday that his party would not be willing to challenge the establishment. He claimed that he had nothing to do with the army chief's prolongation.

The Wazirabad incident was attributed to three people, including a senior military official, by the previous PM, who also demanded their resignations. The army, however, denied the claim and called it "baseless."

Regardless of the situation, Imran Khan declared that the PTI long march would succeed in setting a date for early elections. He claimed that the party would only budge once the general election date was known.

He is currently recuperating in Lahore from the bullet wounds he received during the attempted assassination strike in Wazirabad. A day ago, he received his release from Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

Different dates for the continuation of the "Haqeeqi Azadi March" [true independence march] were declared by the party leadership on Monday, therefore it appears that confusion exists among PTI cadres. Imran Khan informed the media that he had adjusted the long march's timetable so that it would now begin on Wednesday rather than the Tuesday he had previously promised.

Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, a spokeswoman for the Punjab administration, also made a statement via Twitter, announcing that Wednesday (Nov. 9) will be the new day for the long march to resume.

But at a press conference in Zaman Park, party vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the march would resume on Thursday (Nov 10). The PTI leadership insisted that there was no miscommunication and that the march date had been postponed to allow for preparations.

Qureshi added that despite many days having passed, the first information report (FIR) of Imran Khan's attack had not been filed. Our first priority at the moment is filing a FIR, he continued.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar will lead the long march from Wazirabad and Faisalabad, respectively, according to Imran. He explained that the march would leave from Faisalabad and travel through Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Layyah before arriving in Islamabad.

Imran Khan stated that no concessions could be made to the coalition's leaders, notably PMLN leader Nawaz Sharif and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

In the meantime, Imran Khan resisted all attempts by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi to persuade him to withdraw the nomination of a senior serving army official in the FIR of the Wazirabad incident on Monday.

Ch Parvez Elahi met with Imran Khan one-on-one to resolve the FIR issue, along with top party figures Moonis Elahi and MPA Hussain Elahi. He made an effort to persuade his host to refrain from "politicising" the institution of the Army, arguing that doing so would be against the interests of the country and would even incite national resentment. The PTI chairman, however, stood by his position.

According to sources, the Azam Swati video controversy was also brought up. With the support of the PTI, Parvez Elahi, who has 10 MPAs in the Punjab Assembly, is the current chief minister. Both Parvez Elahi and the PTI would lose the Punjab government if the PTI withdrew its support. Later, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, a PTI MPA and a spokesperson for the Punjab administration, denied any FIR without the names of the offenders provided by Imran Khan. She declared that the country will not tolerate any "cover-up." It is a serious situation that involves the life of the most well-liked leader in the nation, according to Musarrat Cheema.
