Important
step of the Supreme Court on not making Urdu the official language
ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court (SC) has taken stern notice of the non-introduction of Urdu
as the official language and demanded an answer from the concerned authorities.
According
to details, a contempt of court case was heard on the violation of the order to
make Urdu the official language. In this regard, the Supreme Court sought reply
from the Ministry of Education.
A
two-member bench headed by Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the case.
Justice
Umar Atta Bandial in his remarks said that the order of the Supreme Court to
make Urdu the official language should be implemented immediately. Apart from
education, there is also training.
The
Honorable Judge said that it is the responsibility of all citizens to take
steps to keep their language alive, we should make Urdu a world language.
He
said that Urdu language is not getting any promotion in educational
institutions, the federal government should point out which are the
institutions to introduce Urdu?
Justice
Umar Atta Bandial said that while the other three provinces are protecting
their languages, why Punjab is still lagging behind. We will take the issue of
Urdu language seriously.
Later,
the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court was adjourned indefinitely.
